Catacombs

by admin_wr

Miles of underground tunnels contain the remains and the graves of martyrs, saints, and ordinary people, buried in the early Christian era. The Christian catacombs are extremely important for the art history of Early Christian Art, as they preserve the great majority of examples from before about 400 AD in fresco, sculpture, and artifacts. The Jewish catacombs are similarly important for the study of the Jewish culture at this period. Prices vary
