Whether you’re seeking that perfect sofa or looking to revamp your entire abode, a trip to Frattali is a must. Alexandra Bruzzese tells you more about this top design and furniture boutique.
Italy is renowned as a country of fine things: exquisite food, bespoke shoes, handcrafted glass, and—most intriguing for those on the prowl to revitalize their home—furniture and design. A far cry from industrial chains, home decor boutique Frattali traces its roots back to 1942, when founder Alveto Fratalli, after a lengthy apprenticeship, first swung open the doors to his very own carpentry workshop. A few decades later, Alveto and his wife Albite founded a showroom on historic Via Cassia, featuring one-of-a-kind woodworking along with pieces from other artisans. Their son Giuseppe eventually took the reins, introducing a second, three floor showroom on Via Aurelia, and his daughter Claudia entered the business in 2003. Today, the family stocks their stores with tables, sofas, kitchen appliances, doors, and everything in between, hailing from luxe Italian and international brands like Alivar, Artemide, Campeggi, Cassina, Gervasoni, Jesse, Miele, Minotti, Kartell, Poltrona Frau, Porada, Rimadesio, Samsung, Snaldero, Tumidei, Vitra, Zanotta, and more. Fractal also boasts a bevy of services that go beyond recommending a new kitchen table: staff can aid you in renovating a particular space or even your entire home, with the possibilities illustrated through 3D imaging and computer simulations. Expert interior designers are on hand to make over rooms or rearrange existing furniture and d.cor. In keeping with its roots, the boutique also provides tailor-made, one-of-a-kind items upon request, including woodwork (with the timber of your choice), ceilings, closets, lacquering, and whatever else your home craves. And once you’ve selected just what your interior has been missing, professional artisans and carpenters will deliver and assemble it all—no toolbox required. Just got engaged? The boutique also creates wedding registries.
