Staycation: Dreaming of Gourmet Night

by Danilo Brunetti

The hotel and restaurant industries have joined forces to try to survive in an exceedingly difficult time for both sectors. Their plan: offering Romans a magical moment they’ve likely never experienced before: the beauty of feeling like a tourist in your own city. The so-called “Staycation” is a wonderful opportunity to take a mini-break while never leaving town, a way to get away from it all at a time when restrictions limit your range of motion. The Staycation offered in several of Rome’s luxury hotels includes an urban stay and a gourmet dinner. In this way, the hotel  restaurants, which would ordinarily have had to close at 6pm, can now stay open to serve anyone who’s decided to stay the night. Many hotels offer special, personalized packages combining top-notch accomodation and unbeatable prices. Here are our picks for Rome’s best Staycations:

Hotel Vilòn

Located inside Palazzo Borghese, this luxury hotel is an urban oasis with 18 rooms. Here the Staycation takes place between the suite with balcony and the Turkish bath overlooking the gardens, the buffet breakfast, a perfectly mixed cocktail, the appetizers served in the salon and finally the deliciou dinner in the Adelaide restaurant.

Rome Cavalieri

This starry Staycation  includes dinner at La Pergola, Rome’s only three-star Michelin restaurant, led by Chef Heinz Beck, and an overnight stay at a special price in one of the hotel’s rooms or suites.
