Trajan’s Markets and Trajan’s Forum

by admin_wr

The semicircular market was ancient Rome’s mall and an office building. The shops and apartments were built in a multi-level structure and it is still possible to visit several of the tiers. The site also houses an archaeology museum, and occasional contemporary installations. In the nearby Trajan’s Forum is located the triumphal Trajan’s Column, famous for its spiral bas relief, which artistically describes the epic wars between the Romans and the Dacians. Via IV Novembre, 94. Open daily, 9:30am–7:30pm. €14 (€12 reduced).
